The Chiaramonte-Steri palace had an adjacent prison where the Aragonese kept prisoners during their imposed Inquisition. The prisoners used their saliva and the dust from the terra cotta floors to paint Biblical scenes on the wall in the hopes of convincing their captors they'd converted.
