Common to see ceramics as well as lemon patterns

2

So evidently "cannoli" is plural! "Cannolo" is singular! Who knew?

3

Ceramic ornaments. If you ever visit, consider buying from the shops that are part of the artist union. They're marked with an orange logo on the front windows.

Floor of the ceramics shop

5

Lemon dress. Many of these stores were playing Ed Sheeran over the speakers

6

The ceramic pinecone is the typical Sicilian souvenir representing fertility or the home... My grandma had a lot of these around the house when my dad was little, evidently. But okay these smooth, minimalist ones in the Palermo Airport made me laugh out loud.

7

Beautiful tops from India

8

"Hail Chaos"

9

In Moltivolti restaurant, an anti-mafia establishment that employs diverse immigrants

10

In the Archeological Musuem

11

In the Archeological Musuem, a headless snake statue. We theorized perhaps someone had broken the head off back in history as a way to symbolically defeat evil

12

Liked this art. I'm a Dove Cameron fan that believes snakes are unfairly associated with evil and women. Feminists should reclaim the snake as a source of pride and power

13

A famous painting of Mary, when the angel appeared to tell her she was pregnant with Jesus. We noted how she's clutching her veil, as if she'd just been shocked by the strange male in her bedroom

14

And down the street, the modern art version

15

Loved the style that Eve was painted here, weight on her without being heavyset

16

The three wise... No that's gotta be a black woman on the left

17

The Chiaramonte-Steri palace had an adjacent prison where the Aragonese kept prisoners during their imposed Inquisition. The prisoners used their saliva and the dust from the terra cotta floors to paint Biblical scenes on the wall in the hopes of convincing their captors they'd converted. In the Reflection tab, I talked about my interaction on the trip over where someone thought I was Jewish. That stuck with me here.

I eagerly asked my professor if this was maybe David's star (no) but it's still cool
